Termites are wood-destroying insects. Their presence dates back to the dinosaurs. While they play an important role in nature, they work 24 hours/7 days a week at damaging the wood in and around a structure. Although termites cause $5 billion in damage each year, they can be controlled with proper treatment.

The two main types of termites in the U.S. are:

Subterranean Termites live underground and travel to the surface to feed via tubes which they build to conceal themselves from the elements and predators. Subterranean Termites usually don't leave any visible evidence of their presence except where their tubes must be built to span a physical barrier. Subterranean Workers are small in size (about 1/4 ") while Subterranean Soldiers are a little larger (about 3/8 ") and can be identified by their darker orange colored head that's equipped with pincher's which are used to crush their enemies. Both will work 24/7 over their 2 year life span.

Drywood Termites live their lives out above ground and are a little larger than their subterranean counterpart (about 3/8 - 1/2"). Unlike the Subterranean Termite Drywood Termites don't require contact with the soil to live. A colony of Drywood Termites can have as many 50 members within the first year, and as many as 3,000 within fifteen years.
Treatment: Our technicians are equipped with the latest tools, chemicals and knowledge to handle your specific needs. Like Orange Oil, due to its highly acidic pH levels Orange Oil will melt the exoskeletons and eggs of termites that come in contact with it. Our technicians are also equipped with Borescopes similar to those used in complicated surgeries, so there's virtually no place that Termites can't be detected and treated in your home or business.

Orange Oil: Between the growing public awareness for the need to reduce the use of harmful chemicals and media buzz surrounding it. Orange Oil is currently asked about by our customers more than any other product. Orange Oil is effective at killing termites it comes in contact with, it doesn’t leave any residual behind and it has minimal impact on the environment. However, Orange may not be the best treatment for every termite scenario. Orange Oil is effective when it comes in contact with termites and therefore it is not effective when combating Subterranean Termites.

Whether Orange Oil is going to be the right product for your property is something that only a trained and qualified Termite inspector will be able to make an educated recommendation about. Like the ones here at "The No-Nonsense Termite Company" will be able to tell you.
